Local Voices: Readings from Disha Bose, Mary Morrissy, and Sara O’Donovan

Disha Bose’s debut novel Dirty Laundry, a domestic noir that examines the dark side of motherhood and suburbia, was published in 2023. She was born and raised in India, and now lives in Cork. She worked in the tech industry until returning to writing in 2015, when she joined the Masters in Creative Writing course at UCD. Mary Morrissy is the author of three novels, Mother of Pearl, The Pretender and The Rising of Bella Casey and two collections of stories, A Lazy Eye and Prosperity Drive. Her fourth novel, Penelope Unbound, is published in September 2023 from Banshee Press. Her work has won her the Hennessy Prize and a Lannan Foundation Award. A member of Aosdána, she is a journalist, teacher of creative writing and literary mentor. Sara O’Donovan spent her early years in England, brought up in the world of horse racing and show jumping. She moved to Ireland in her late 20s and now lives in County Cork with her husband and young family. A former equestrian journalist, she manages the West Cork Literary festival in Bantry. Her first novel ‘Within You, Without You’ was published by Valley Press in November 2022.
