Sally Hayden is a journalist and the author of My Fourth Time, We Drowned: Seeking Refuge on the World’s Deadliest Migration Route. It was her first book, and won the Orwell Prize for Political Writing 2022, the Michel Deon Prize, the An Post Irish Book of the Year, the non-fiction book of the year at the Irish Book Awards, and was shortlisted for the Baillie Gifford Prize and the New York Public Library’s Helen Bernstein Book Award.
Currently the Africa correspondent for the Irish Times, Sally has also reported across Europe and the Middle East for outlets including the New York Times, the Washington Post, CNN International, BBC, the Guardian, RTE and Channel 4 News.
